How do songwriters come up with their songs? In the first of a series of Q & As, singer-songwriter Tyler Massey takes us through the creative process, covering inspiration, revision of music and lyrics and how he blends his own songs with covers in live sets:
You can hear some of Tyler’s music on his MySpace Music page. If you’re in the West Midlands/ Oxfordshire/ Worcestershire area, be sure to check his gig list too.
This is all great stuff, but I particularly agree with Tyler’s view on using backing tapes during live performance: ew, no, don’t bother - looks tacky and sounds a bit unsettling. Write your songs, really practise your instrument and make the performance 100% you.
Thanks Tyler!
